Underground Railroad and her Journeys
The Underground Railroad is a secret network for helping slaves escape from the South to the North. Harriet along with many more abolitionists were "conductors" of this railroad. Such people are William Still and Thomas Garret. William still was one of the busiest "station masters." He also had all the records of the Underground Railroad. He kept it secret so that he wouldn't get caught. During his lifetime, he got it published. Harriet took all her "passengers" through the Underground Railroad. She wouldn't let any of the slaves go back unless they wanted to die, for if they became traitors and told of the Underground Railroad all the others would be caught. Harriet had to take a silent oath so that the secret would not be shared.
